The Office of the Personal Data Protection Commissioner (PDP) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) in Istanbul, Turkey on 7 June 2024 (Malaysian time). PDP Commissioner, Prof. Dr. Mohd Nazri bin Kama signed the MOC with the President of KVKK Turkiye, Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir while witnessed by officers from both sides.
This memorandum was realized as a follow-up from a representative of the KVKK Türkiye delegation who visited Putrajaya on 15 January 2024. Through this collaboration, both parties agree, among other things, to:
- Exchange of information about experience related to the implementation and enforcement of personal data protection laws;
- Exchange of research results, studies, analysis, etc. in the field of personal data protection;
- Exchange of expertise for the purpose of professional development on a larger scale;
- Cooperation in the field of professional training (qualification), consultation, seminars, workshops, study visits and expert visits.
This collaboration is expected to help the PDP Commissioner’s Office improve its ability to enforce the Personal Data Protection Act [Act 709] to a better level.
