In recognition of the fact that separate sectors/industries may have specific industry practices in relation to the way in which personal data is handled and/or may have used unique technologies that require specific data protection regulations, i.e. the Act allows for the establishment and establishment by the Commissioner of data user forums, and the provision code of practice for a specific sector/industry.

This Code of Practice is specific to persons/parties holding licenses under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and has been developed by the Personal Data Users Forum for Communications and Multimedia Act Licensees (“CMA Data Users Forum”). For the avoidance of doubt, this Code of Conduct applies to both individual and class licensees under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, but does not extend to parties who have been exempted from holding a license under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and its regulations.
