The Personal Data Protection Commissioner (PPDP) is an agency under the Digital Ministry that was created on 15 November 2013 after Parliament passed the Bill relating to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (APDP) i.e. Act 709.

The commissioner is a corporate body that remains for generations and has a corporate seal.

The PDP Commissioner is responsible for regulating the processing of commercial transactions of personal data by organizations (Data Controllers) and protecting the interests of individuals from any misuse of personal data.

PPDP implements and enforces personal data protection laws, including the formulation of operational policies and procedures.
