OFFICE OF THE PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION COMMISSIONER CONTINUES ADVOCACY IN PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION (ACT 709)

The Office of the Personal Data Protection Commissioner (PPDP) has jointly organized an exhibition in conjunction with the Global Compliance Watch Outlook Conference 2024 which took place on 21 August 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The Global Compliance Watch Outlook Conference 2024 is the first series in which the PPDP Office participated as one of the exhibiting agencies and was also given the opportunity to be a speaker panel in the organized forum.

Knowledge sharing session by YBrs. Dr. Muhammad Sufyan bin Basri, Assistant Commissioner has reviewed the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill 2024, which is expected to help increase public knowledge and awareness regarding the new amendments to protect and safeguard the personal data of Malaysians in particular.

Among the activities carried out at the reruai are the sharing of information on the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill 2024, a personal data protection guide, a digital quiz and a survey of visitors’ views and responses to assess their level of awareness about personal data protection. The PPDP office hopes that the activities carried out can help increase the awareness of visitors to be more careful when sharing personal data, further avoiding becoming a victim of online scams and fraud.
